I had a really great 2.0 experience the other morning. One of those, which makes all of what is said about social media, true. The wise men and women all talk about connectivity and community and conversations. But this is how it feels...
Sometimes, being a Danish blogger, doesn't seem very commune-ly or the conversations seem a bit quiet. Not that there aren't many Danish bloggers or that they don't have something in common, I'm just not a part of it, really. I'm, so far, more of a lone writer. I always get so a bit jealous when I hear of Podcamp Toronto, Podcamp this and that. They sound like a lot of fun and very educational and gettogetherish in the good way. I have left plenty of comments and other stuff on other blogs, and I write because I love to, not to get an answer back. One of my favorite podcasts is Mitch Joel's Six Pixels of Separation, a very personal, passionate and fun podcast about the 'new' internet: blogs, podcasts, twits and all "that good stuff", as Mitch Joel would say. Not only is it inspiring, it's thought provoking and ambitious, it's down to earth and accesible. I listen to the shows a few days after Mitch Joel airs them on Sunday or Monday in beautiful Montreal.
Thom with a lisp
So I was listening one morning as I was in the slow commute, which for some reason has gone completely ridiculous after the summer holidays. All of a sudden I hear my own voice. It was from an audio comment I gave Mitch Joel a few weeks earlier. I never expected to get 'pod time', but it really made me feel like the community thing was alive and kicking. Don't matter that Mitch Joel got my name and everything wrong. The sound wasn't too good. I sounded electrical and weird across the Atlantic and back again. I wondered if I had a lisp - in real life also. Maybe I didn't know. Not that there's anything wrong with a lisp. It's kind of sexy, I think. Bottomline: It was a real privilege to be included in 6POS and thanks, Mitch Joel, for the mentioning and the Six Point of Separation, inspired by my question. I can only encourage any wannabe blogger or blogger in the making or potential blogger to get out there and get in there and get engaged and share your thoughts and ideas with any/every one else. And get a piece of world 2.0.
